Panning using a tripod and a 4.5" exposure. The technique is very interesting, but the pictures were boring -- mostly due to bad light. (Blame it on the fire and smoke!) I played around with curves and channels and came up with this frankly fake sunrise.
Panning with a long lens is a good way to multiply the mountains. This is just fine as a fake sunrise. It has been so long since I saw the sunrise that I can't remember exactly what they are supposed to look like anyway. As you said, the colors are strange, but pleasing. Good "blurrage". : )
Very beautiful!!!!!! Sunrises are huge hits in dpc-land, fake or otherwise. Matter of fact, I'd say most of the sunrise photos we see on dpc probably are fake :)
