Twirling that zoom lens again. Taken from my front door about 8:15 a.m. this morning.
Technically, this is a composite. The sun in the original came out pretty wobbly, so I borrowed the sun from this shot and pasted it in. Since I don't work for Reuters, I figure I can have some artistic license. In terms of color, I haven't done much to the shot.
The fire is about 22 miles away and burning back into the wilderness, so we aren't in any danger, but it is a creepy sight.
This is a weird thought, but what would it look like if the sun were almost completely gone? Might be fun to try it. Dunno... just talking out loud. I like the perspective and the "up" feel of the trees.
Thanks, you have given me an idea with your comment about twirling the zoom. Now I want to try clamping the zoom ring to the tripod and twisting the camera to get a swirl zoom. Be looking for it.
Smoke from big fires do very strange things to the sky. We had a lot of that here in Florida last winter.
