This is your typical 'oil and water' shot. Almost.
I turned an empty fish tank on its side, put a rainbow colored piece of paper inside (about 6-8 inches from the top). Then I placed a clear ashtray on top and filled it with water. Then I added some oil. After taking a few shots, it looks kinda boring (and I was in the mood for experimenting) so I added some rubbing alcohol. And Viola!

You, with the ribbon on the front page at the moment! (Congrats on that!) I'd love to know how you got some spheres with stripes, some without. Makes it a very interesting photograph to linger upon.
I thought your photo would do alot better than it did, top ten at least I figured. I really like the creativity, focus, and overall concept. I am curious what your process was in setting up this shot. Can you share?
