Oxen are born leaders, inspiring confidence in everyone they come into contact with. However, they can be too demanding. Methodical and good with their hands, they make fine surgeons and hairdressers.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. I am so pleased to have won a ribbon with this entry. This is indeed a cape buffalo. It was the closest thing to an Ox I could find. I almost didn’t enter this in the challenge but now I am glad I did. When I think of an Ox, this is the animal I picture in my mind.

Two ribbons in a row, congratulations!
Great picture... and great and fine work. I like it...
And specially because Ox is my animal in the Chinese Zodiac:)
This has a great tone to it. The image is nicely sharp, dof is good, and I like the bones in the background. Composition is great, and the catchlights in the eyes really stand out. The horns have great texture, so does the hair/fur on the face and back.
Nice shot and the sepia is great. The carcasses in the background take away from the theme, though, since the Ox is about abundance and having enough to eat.
those bones in the background are fascinating - what is the story here? The ox is well caught too - nice detail, great expression, I like the sepia tone.
well done! extra points for getting an ox amid all the dogs and fake dragons! and it's a terrific composition to boot with great tones and well placed elements. 10!
