I finally visited White Sands National Monument, which at 275 square miles is the largest gypsum sand dune field. While seeing nothing but white sand as far as the eye could see made for some amazing images, I was most taken by this pretty little Bleached Earless Lizard.
To clarify, both the sand and the lizard are actually WHITE in real life! :-)
