I love the composition, color choice and the harsh lighting is actually pretty nice. I would prefer some detail in those specular highlights (the bright spots). That can be accomplished by placing a sheet or something opaque in front of the light source (to create a "soft box"). I would also like to see some detail in the shadow below the apples to give them something to rest on. Good still life.
