I need to remember about this next time somebody says that DPC images in 2012 are so much better than in the past :)

At first I saw this as only a portrait on human life rather than this particular person. This was probably because his eyes were covered and I couldn't get the instant gratification of seeing into his soul or so they say. No I had to take the roundabout way to know him by what life has done to his withered body and it's only then when I truly see him for what he is and not what I want to see had I looked into his eyes.Message edited by author 2007-07-25 18:44:11.

This is such a stunning shot, I was sure it would win and I'm surprised it didn't. Congrats on 11th place.

Others may feel different but some parts of it are a little too black for my likes, reflection from the glasses worked well, 8

Stark, extereme image. Really really impacting and interesting. The reflection in his glasses is mildly irritating - I really wanted to see his eyes more clearly.

excellent use of light, love not being able to see his eyes completly, gives it such an anonymous look. dig it

Amazing likeness in style to 60's/70's photojournalism. Classic excellence in this portrait!

You are certainly evoking a lot of emotion here. I have so many questions. Who is this man? Why is he so ematiated? What is his life like? Where does he live? I hope you will share the details of this powerful image. 10

Not *pretty* by any means, but it definitely tells a story and gets the viewer's attention. The bw works very well for this.
