I know, not exactly what you were expecting, but who said portraits had to be of people?

I saw this guy on the wall near my window and had to take his picture.

Not much happened to this really:

Rotated it to portrait,
USM,
Levels,
Dodge/burn the legs and body,
Bit of contrast.
Add border using 30 pixel stroke,
Resize & SFW

Anyways, I hope you like it. It makes a very nice print btw :)

Great use of negative space, love the clarity and sharpness. DOF is right on. Nice work.

"Come into my parlour..." said the spider to the fly. Heh...so where's the fly?!!! Terrific macro! I love the black / white and transparency in color. Well done!

A portrait is a painting (portrait painting), photograph (portrait photography), or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position

Good use of shallow dof and I like the bw. Can't say I was expecting a portrait of a spider to pop up. Better than a snake, I guess.

I'd consider it more of a nature shot than portrait. There isn't enough detail to be considered a portrait imho. Nice though.

Eee! lol. Nice dof. It's hard to see this as a portrait though, perhaps I'm just in the "mammal box" or "macro box" on this one as far as it being a portrait is concerned. I like the composition and the choice of b/w.
