The lighting is superb and I love the pastels and the detail on the fur. Now I'm going to be tempted to tell all my clients to meet me at sunset by the water :-) I know human portrait photographers try this, but I hadn't thought it would work so well for animals. Just lovely. (And BTW, in my experience Bulldogs have AWESOME personalities so it's nice to see one portrayed so well).

Yes, the lighting, the scene, the dignity and the improbability raise this above the merely good, above the ordinary. (How 'bout some more?)

A super pet portrait - one to have framed on your wall!

Gorgeous light and colors.

This is quite good. I'm not sure why it scored as low as it did. Great shot!

This is simply gorgeous. A tough fit for a challenge where people were expected by most voters, but a fine, fine pet portrait!

Thanks for the comments. I wasn't really expecting it to do much. All the 1's was kind of harsh, but live and learn as they say.

Good for you taking the risk, probably knowing it would take a hit being an animal.

Great picture and great light. It seems voters (10 of them in particular) take portrait in a very restrictive view.

I agree that it a realyl good pet portrait. Some voters need to get a clue.

This is a fine image of a fine animal. It's amazing that fifty blind voters had no clue.

I havnen't voted many of the pet portraits high, but this one is really good, I like the surroundings included and the light is beautiful.

This is quite possibly the most stunning image of a pooch I've seen to date. Excellent lighting and scene.

Great pic! Could use tighter crop though.

For some reason, this makes me laugh. In a good way. My highest score so far.

I like the lines in the plants matching the direction of the dog. I'd have cropped it to position the dog further to the left.
