 I wasn't too sure if I could do this much editing to the background, so didn't enter this one into the challenge.

NOTE: The editing that I did was al technically legal in advanced -- I played with selective color and curves -- dodging and burning to bring out color variations. And there is a very faded gradient overlayed to get some of the evening tones.
