Good idea. I think you gave your message very well. In technical aspects I guess that a shallow DOF can gave you more interest in the pricipal subject. I need to look twice to understand it.

Interesting picture for the geometric shapes you've captured, but not a very compelling picture. Colors are dull and it also appears the backboard is slanted slightly.
