Not sure. I can see that whatever it is has been cut and we are looking at the cut edge.

Hmmmm, this really is a puzzle! It looks to be set in the wooden/plastic part, the rectangular metallic part looks like it could be a grinder/sander of some sort. Then again, this could be the bottom of a chair or other piece of furniture. Tricky!
