I'm thinking that maybe the idea in your head was much better than the one that came out, which isn’t a bad thing if it was like that. You just need to work on it. I do it all the time. I am actually thinking of a picture now but getting it on screen is not so easy. Anyhow... I don't know what you used as a background but I'm thinking that it's wrong. Maybe try some glass or something to allow your BG to become more OOF instead of in focus. JMO
