I like the bright colors. Seeing more of the baby would have been a bit more interesting I think, though I know with little ones that is not always possible. Also, if the red continued around the bottom it would look more complete.

Great image of a child and the colours work well. However I have to say it does not necessarily scream candid to me

I'm not so sure it's possible to have candids of babies in the same way that you can't have a candid of your cat. I don't think the baby has any awareness of what a camera is. Step out of your comfort zone and get some photos of strangers!
