Taken of a good friend in Queens, NYC within a church's attic floor. The challenge was to get the correct exposure with the flood of light coming through the windows.

Holds some kind of power... You have great sense of line/geometry, and now it is balanced by the gravitas of your subject. (I wonder if that balance would be a little more dynamic if you cropped a bit off the right - you'd lose some of your friend's shadow, and make the corner centered which you may not want).
Thank you for all your inspiring comments. I was clearly surprised at all the positive feedback. I was afraid that it was too dark to be effective, but I wanted to add a mystiqueness to it. My friend was the perfect subject and his patience paid off.
This was one of 2 10s that I gave in this challenge (and I voted on all 600+ entries!) I tihnk this is perfection. The light on the glasses is fantastic. Everything works - lighting, angle, composition, exposure, etc. Excellent work!
very well done - understated with excellent composition - posing him so his glasses are illuminated with the light from outside is the thing that really brings it home
Some real wow work here with the shadows and light. The way the angles and lines are working around the solitary figure are also great. Very well done!
This is excellent on a number of levels - the composition with the angles and shadows is very visually pleasing and balanced; the light is awesome - from the glow in the windows to the reflection off of his glasses which very aptly emphasizes your title; and there's a wonderful sense of peace and contentment.
Beautiful in its simplicity and minimalism. I love the reflection in the glasses. You have captured two of the most important aspects in photography - emotion and light. 9.
