Challenge: The Username Challenge II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM
Location: Bláfjöll, Iceland
Date: May 22, 2007
Aperture: 8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30 sec
Galleries: Landscape, Panoramic
Date Uploaded: May 22, 2007

To be completely honest, I kindof cheated for this challenge, I did it the other way around and just took a photo and then went looking for a username that fit the shot. This is shot well after midnight or 1:22 am, I really love living in Iceland during the summertime cause it never really gets dark here. I am going to go out regularly this sumer to take "nightshots" similar to this one cause the light changes so much after the sun sets but when it´s still bright outside, going to see where that will take me.

I really like this shot, it works well in a print, can understand it though if many of you think it´s too blue but I don´t really care, I like it this way. Used a tripod obviously and a polarizer to increase the reflection.

For post processing I did a raw conversion where I set the WB and contrast, then did two shadow highlight adjustments. After that I did a small color balance adjustment and levels+curves for contrast and brightness. Then came the fun part, I needed to clone out probably 50 dust specs, I REALLY need to clean my camera. Ever wonder why I shoot so many of my photos on a 5.6 aperture or bigger? That´s why :) What can I say, I am a lazy bastard :P Cropped to a 7:4 ratio and then finally used smartsharpen after resizing.

Is this in Nevada? I have some shots that look just like this. Well not as good as yours though mine is during daytime and well just not this good. But where is this? 9

The image fits the username, that's for certain. Something about the color bugs me though. I don't care for the turquoise in it. It may well have looked EXACTLY like that, but it just looks odd to me. It also looks very cold!

Love the range of blue tones and the perfectly still reflection in the water. Coming back to bump this up.
