A favorite subject, the Golden Gate Bridge. Tiny crop to straighten waterline. Fiddled a little with contrast and bright. Desaturated the entire image in one layer. Used sliders to remove unwanted colors in another layer then erased, carefully, vestiges of remaining color.
Merged layers, sharpen. Save for web.

Not the most spectacular shot I've ever seen of this bridge. Doesn't really have any oomph. Maybe the lack of a dramatic sky, or simply a lack of colour in the sky is what causes it. Perhaps you could have shot it at a different time of day to get more interesting lighting.
I love the idea that came up with. I'd say, though, that the end of the bridge you aer missing some of your red...as in half of the base and the last part of it. You also should have taken the red out of the boat passing by, it's distracting to the eye.
The picture is nice, and the composition is very good, but the desaturation is very badly executed. The main point of the challenge is desaturation, hence the bad vote.
