People say that brighter colors would have made them like this photo more. To me brighter colors would have made this cliche. It's the colors that really make this photo. It's very soothing. Very Silky Smooth.
Yes, I'm quite surpised this didn't score higher. I really love the dof...which may have contributed to the score...I've found that sometimes a shallow dof only appeals to a small majority of the voters. It is lovely in my opinion though.
I like the choice of water drops on the petals - they add some needed visual interest.
A bit more of a punch in the color of the flower would give the image more impact. More dof would also improve things a bit. The image could also be reframed and shot from another angle. I know it's a flower from the description, but it's not entirely clear by looking at the image what this is a picture of.
