Another shot from the Sydney ferries on Sydney Harbour, of the coiled rope that the ferry uses to tie up, when one docks. I have converted this one to Black & White.
hey shez .. this is THE most excellent b&w .. so contrasty .. such excellent shapes .. an amazing and interesting abstract design .. love the composition and crop .. absolutely love this one .. and once again .. very you!!! ..:)
ps .. i finished writing my comment and then noticed jon's .. i've now looked for a full minute and cant see any lens flare .. where is it???
I know that you say you are playing around with textures in this challenge and this is another one that works really well. I am so impressed with the way you use contrast to really bring the shot to life
A shot that would have done very well in contre jour. The slight lens flare is a very minor detraction but given the angle its impossible to see how this could be avoided...another wonderful entry
Im usually a girl of color but i really prefer this one the most. the tones are perfect. I think in the color version the colors distract from the textures of the wood and rope(for me at least) have a super great day sher
~~CHER~~
After looking at all three I prefer this one. To me it just brings out more drama and interest. THe sepia tends to reduce some of the contrast and the range of tones, the color is nice too, I like the color contrasts, but I think the added somplexity of the color tends to take away from teh main idea of the rope and lines.
The colors are nice in the original, Shez, but this one just sings! Outstanding detail, depth and richness in the B&W conversion. The glow of light beyond in the upper right with the ropes crossing it works much better in B&W. Very lovely work!
This is my personal fav of the 3, the braid of the rope seems more defined and the sun spoting seems less defined over all. you can put my vote in for this one.
WOW, you must be the King...err, Queen of rope shots!! lol. These are completely incredible!! love both the B&W and Sepia versions but this time I must say I like the B&W best, these are just too cool! The only thing I see distracting here is the slight lens flare near the top in roughly the middle of the shot, but this is a very minor thing to be sure. Great capture!!
