Great shot! I just became a full fledged member & was just browsing the archives. If you would all like to know, this is called a "PPC" or Powered Parachute. Kind of a combination of a go cart with a big fan on teh back & parachute over head. I know many pilots & work some of the air shows they have. If any Photographers are in the IL area (45 minutes outside of St Louis) in mid august, you can catch the Powered Parachute World Chanpionship Competition. Details can be found at //www.chute-out.com This will be my 4th yr there working a booth. VERY cool thing to watch, photograph & do, but intro flights aren't available at competitions. I have hundreds of shots of them. Here's one of an Australian pilot (love their accents!)
Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! I was pretty darn surprised to open my browser and find this shot in 3rd place! Makes for a nice little Christmas gift. :-)
I was out shooting a friend of ours at a Motocross track in the East Valley. He'd just come off the track for a break, so I set my camera down for a break also. I started hearing comments "look, check that out". Turned around and there they were. Made a quick reach for the camera and didn't have much time for focusing, set up, etc. they were passing us by. The first couple shots I took didn't have the moon in it. The last one I saw the moon in the viewfinder and remember thinking: I hope this turns out.
That's how I got this one and now I'll be heading out to try and 1) find this guy and 2) get more shots of them.
Yeah! I;m glad you won a ribbon! Too bad people get DQ-ed but I think you would have originally been here regardless, especially if those that did cheat didn't! Congrats!
no way, your eyes will pop out like in that movie with arnold schwarzenegger (total recall).... i guess stranger things have happened.. those being: arnold becoming governer of california and: britney spears and justin timberlake breaking up.. WOW...
wow very nice composition... the slight moon on the left add the feeling here.
The color and contrast between the subject and the blue sky are very nice.
Very well done!
