Best I could tell this is a weight of some kind. It was on a metal platform thingie that I'm guessing was used to weigh things. It was in the lobby of the hotel I was at last week. Conversion by desaturation. Duplicate layer with soft light blending mode, reduced in opacity. Sharpened using high pass filter.
This is really awesome! You'd never know it was an inside shot with that beautiful bokeh background. I love the light and shadows and the wonderful detail in the texture of that weight!
This would make a great print in a contemporary decor.
I was about to agree that a touch more depth would have added something, then I looked again. I realized I like it as is; there is a slight imperfection in in-focus area of the whatzamacallit, and the light, shadows and tones at that point are excellent. The focus leads you right to it, just like it should. When I stopped looking to make suggestions, and just looked, there was an awful lot to see. Nice.
Nice study of light and shadow. Just a hair deeper dof would have worked for me to get the whole whatever-it-is in focus while still keeping the backgruond blurred out. Very nice.
I really like this. I love the tones and the details that are brough out. Simple but has impact. Great DOF. Interesting processing. I will have to try it.
