This is one of my agave images, taken with a macro lens, up very close, to capture the curved leaves of the plant.
I love its abstract qualities, which are much stronger and more dramatic in black and white.
This is s combination of four of the above single image called "Three" and photomerged into this abstract pattern, which looks like a flower.
A wonderful series. The Tryptich comes to mind and these 3 shots on white look very elegant. All have excellent play on the interaction between shadows and lines. Couldn't see a better way to present them than in b/w.
This is beautiful... Really great. Did you do some cloning in the lower right? There seems to be a pattern in there that looks like a processing artifact...

Wow, I love the textures and lines in this close-up photo of the Agave leaves! Love the tones. Beautiful textural lines and I like how the two leaves come together to show off those lovely curves within this square composition. I noticed that the portion of leaf that curves toward us in the foreground is a little soft compared to the sharpness of detail in the leaves throughout most of the rest of the image. This happens with macros especially if you use a lower F-stop. Hmmm, you shot this at a 3.5-5.6 aperture - you might want to try a higher F-stop like an 8 or more with a slower shutter speed (you will need to have a tripod for this) to get a richly sharp details on both the forefront & background.
hey shez ... nice to see you back!!
love your black & white with this one ... so sharp and clean .. great the way the shadow contrasts so well with the lighter petals and draws you into the image ..
Wonderful shapes and nice capture of texture. I think because the shapes in the frame are large, the softer focus works very well with it - conveys "gist" rather than precision.
Excellent composition. I love the balance of light and dark, and the way you equalized the reveal in the upper part of the composition. Like the border addition, too.
love this, shez. beautiful b&w conversion, the tones look great. i like the composition and the dof a lot as well. this looks very elegant and has a very emotive quality. well-done.
