Wow! Love the textures of those craggy rocks and that they provide a 'natural' leading lines that lead our eyes to look 'up' to the horizon to see the beautiful ocean, mountain range, and sky beyond. Love the dynamic tonal ranges in this composition. The thing that keeps me spellbound is those rock textures and the wonderful gleam/sparkle that dances on the ocean surface. I can hear the sounds of the surf and feel the ocean breeze when looking at this photo.
You did quite well in a tough free study. I gave you a 7 on this - I love the water and rocks, and I find the depth very well done here. The clouds seem slightly off to me - I realize you were minimizing them to add more punch to the waves, but maybe they were minized too much? Anyway, very strong entry no doubt.
The interesting light/shadows in the water really make this image strong. I think without that key element it would have been a fairly static image. Way to see the light.
Oh wow.
Now that is something special.
That sea alone deserves a 7.
I'll go 9, could of dodged the clouds a little to add some more impact.
Needless to say a 9 is pretty amazing!
