The b/w and weak contrast here make it difficult to distinguish the subject from the backgrounnd. Color, more contrast and/or different lighting (time of day) may have improved this shot.
The fence in the foreground is good but the swing and slide are blending into their surroundings. More contrast maybe? Perhaps make things gloomier too in view of the subject matter. 7 - floyd

I don't like the fence, although I appreciate fully it's significance in the subject matter. I like the overgrown nature of the shot, and the b/w really conveys the sadness and bleakness. On the composition front I am struggling with a point of focus between both the slide and the other ride thing, and the cactii - the shot seems to busy for me. PS. what is the correct plural for cactus? 5, Kavey
Sad, very sad photo. The clutter of the background makes the subjects harder to see clearly. Is the fence referring to the title or did something bad happen to the child? If the fence connects to the title, it's a good thing, if not, not so good. 7 Swash
This is an interesting photo, but I find myself 'searching' for the subject matter... There is not much contrast in this image... everything seems to blend together. I think that this could have possibly used a few adjustments to contrast and brightness to make it puhch a little harder :) - jmsetzler
To me...this looks like a child looking through a fence at a swingset in someone elses yard, that has long since overgrown with weeds grass and sticks. The lighting is good. I would like to see the whole swing set. maybe a wider view of the same shot. Great job and good luck in the challenge.
