I was really excited when I saw that the Night Shot challenge was back, so I decided to drive up to the Eastern Sierras in hopes of having a decent landscape to use. The weather turned on me though farther North (Mono Lake, Mammoth, Rock Creek Lake, etc.), so I was forced to retreat South to even have a chance at getting stars in the shot. This is part of the fence that surrounds the cemetery at Manzanar (the site of the WWII Japanese concentration camp). I'm frankly disappointed with this shot, but the noise in the 30 second exposure version (ISO 1600) was just too much to cope with. I want a 5D SO bad... ;) I doubt this will break 6, but I'm going to take the chance anyway to hopefully get some decent feedback. Besides, I decided it was about time I start getting more involved in challenges again. :D

Ok, well my prediction was off a little, but I didn't make through more than about 30% and apparently there were quite a few really good ones I missed out on. Still, this is on MY top ten list. Congrats on a great finish.
The brightly light scene with the stars in the background make for an interesting photo, but I think I wold have liked to darken the forground just a bit to make the stars stand out more.
Nice long exposure. The moving stars and clouds work really well. I'm not sure the fence in the foreground really buys you much. It doesn't frame or really lead to the mountains, and it keeps pulling my eye away from the beautiful mountains and sky.
