I love this one – it looks like the boots couldn’t find the child and decided to go out on their own… It’s also a really good shot technically with my only quibble relating to sharpness of the overall image. (9) Good luck...
Looks fun. We had some crappy weather here in Michigan the week we were suposed to be shooting for the childhood challenge, and it kind of messed up the shot I wanted, and I had thought about doing something like this. You did a great job with this photo. The lighting and angle are great. Looks like you might have done a bit of saturatin editing to "b&w" most of the photo to bring out the boots. I could be wrong, but either way, I like the effect. Great job with this photo and good luck in the challenge.
I like the bright contrast of the yellow against the brown and the cool patterns in med on the gollashes (sp?). I think this photo could have been interesting with raindrops falling into the puddle. You can't control the weather of course. Nice photo overall. 6, just-married
This is a great photo, but I think it would be even better if the boots were actually stomping. The water is too perfectly smooth... it needs some movement. I really do like your concept, though. Nice work.
This is a very nice image. I love the mood it invokes. I have just started voting but I suspect that this image will represent one of the highest, most sensitive representations of childhood. Love the yellow against all the grey. Love the composition with the yellow subject being surrounded by a lot of grey, room to breathe. I do sense so strongly the child of those boots and his/her delighting in the mud. It makes me think back of my own childhood. Thank you. Just started voting. My prelim. vote is 8 but will definitely revisit this image. Journey Update: My only nitpick with this image is that the top of the boots are very soft. Since there are so few elements here (boots, mud, and muddy water) every one carries a lot of weight. And when I look at the top part of the image I notice the softness of the boots most of all. Final score: 9 Journey
