Hey!! Only diffusion used here was some cellophane from a CD my wife bought. I think she was a bit disturbed by the fact that I showed more interest in the cellophane wrapper than the actual CD. No PS used in the soft focus effect, just the cellophane. Painted with light from my Mini Maglite and fiber optic snork.

Wow, that is one stupendous photo! It seems actually to be vibrating it's so intense, yet soft at the same time. Gonna have to try that cellophane trick! :)
I failed to comment on this one during the challenge, but just to let you know, I thought you shot was great. I expected it to be placed higher, but it still did great. You did a wonderful job capturing soft focus without using PS - congrats! Lovely work.
The hints of other colors around the edges turn this into a complete floral still-life, not just a flower macro. I'd be tempted to run a canvas filter on it -- to me it has the look/feel of an oil painting while remaining photographic.
Excellent filling of the frame and the lighting causes it to be right in your face. Good tonal balance, no blowout yet strong contrast between fore- and background. Good color, well chosen subject for a soft focus.
