This is the first cloud of smoke from the Strawberry Hills fire. We are on the Halston bridge, heading towards home (on the other side of the smoke) when this was taken. We crested the top of the bridge and saw a dark black puff come up, then turn into this cloud as quick as you could see it. As we neared the site, we stopped on the highway for a minute, to see what we had to deal with. Turns out it was evacuation once we got home. The fire spread from the roadside, (where it was lit by a tossed cigarette butt) to the top of the mountain in less than ten seconds, jumping from tree top to tree top. It raced across the top of the mountain faster than the speed were moving on the highway (80kms)
