My grandfather used to take me by bus behind this runway in 1975/6. I had an Olympus OM1MD with a 200mm F4 lens. Film was expensive...thank God for Digital! I wish we had bigger than 640px so you could see this better.
I shot this with my new Sigma 100-300 F4 lens.
EDIT: Levels, Hue and saturation changes to get that warm sky happening, USM, Noise Ninja, Resize, another sharpen and saturation adjustment, Noise Ninja again to butter up the sky, a couple more colour adjustments, resize and put a border around it. I cloned out sensor dust above the wing and right on the left of the frame.
PREDICTION: 6.2XXX. Though some voters would say there is not much spinning going on. The tight crop and composition might hurt as well...this could go either way
POST: well I bombed...perhaps in another challenge this would have done better. A full point down on my expectations. I guess spinning means spinning to voters.

As can be pieced together from the comments and score: good image, but a lot of people didn't feel it met the challenge. Yes, there is an engine spinning, but it's small and dark, and you can't really see the spin.
Technical stuff:
I think the image is very well composed. All the important lines seem to be just off the mystical thirds, and the right wing nicely leads your eye in towards the rest of the image. The gentle blue and orange nicely complement each other, and their relative quantity seems nicely balanced.
Interesting POV, I like the off-center subject, the fact that the plane is angled, and the trace of the tail at the bottom (rounds the image off nicely). I think the close-up works well.
As has been commented on, bits of the image seem oversharpened - it's something to watch out for. Also, there are bits of distracting glare shining off the airplane - I wonder if a polarizing filter might have helped?
Anyway. Good image - sorry it didn't score higher. I'm sure your score prediction would have been accurate for a different challenge theme.
I thought I would let you know that I was also in the lower ranges in the beginning of the challenge, but much to my surprise I did end up, as did you, with an above 5 score. Anyway, I see the colors of this image and that is the first thing I notice. You created a warm image of something very hard and solid, creating a different kind of beauty. I saw your post on your comments, and I know you are used to high scores, but it still was respectable. Anyway, I liked it but I think, as I see with mine, that it missed the mark regarding spinning. Perhaps mine would have done really well in creepy, freaky friday, or Halloween. It was a bit off beat.
Beautifully lit, good clarity, and I like the bright lights above the wheels. My only criticism (a minor quibble) is thematic in that the spinning (presumably the jet engine) must be assumed since it isn't visible.
Nice take on the challenge theme, however with the turbofan of this engine being too dark and a bit small, this image doesn't really say spinning to me at all.
Also, be careful of your sharpening. There are jaggies all over the place from too much of it.
