Wow, I just found this shot, while looking through old challenges. Amazing. It's not super-edited, doesn't have highly saturated colours, has harsh sun on the bg, yet it still comes together as a very powerful shot. Really well done.
(Edited comment): I think this is less (obviously) technically impressive than my other high-scorers in this challenge, but it is really imaginative and I have a (good) emotional response to it. I love the red against the dry corn. Tall corn? You must be in another hemisphere from me. Very creative!
Although the idea is interesting the execution of it is lacking. The young girl is striking with her hair flying outward and the red dress to attract the eye but we cannot see the face well enough to relate to her emotions and the contrast is rather flat. Perhaps if you had taken this photograph either in the early morning or toward evening when the lighting would have been softer and warmer. Perhaps allowing her to blurr to suggest motion.
I love your choice of background and the model's dress. It looks like it could be an album cover. I can say album, right or is it CD case? What ever. 8.
Interesting colors in this shot. I'd like to see a bit more saturation in the vegetation and especially the sky but as it is its alright.
The motion of the subject is well portrayed and captured. The positioning of her arms and legs create a feeling of implied movement, while the flowing scarves and hair give us a more obvious sign of motion.
Composition: The placing of the main subject is perfect. While perhaps not composed using the rule of thirds, her motion does seem to make it appear that way. The leading lines of the stalks takes you into the frame and creates depth nicely.
The challenge:
Creative approach to the challenge and one that is quite unique. The setup and locale also aid in giving this a lot of originality.
