Well I kindof wanted to emitate the style of David LaChapelle and this was the best I could do. Some of you might recognize Lilja, she modeled for me as well in the first week of my picture a project, the shot I used in the black and white portrait II challenge. Henny took care of the makeup for this one as usual, incidentally was trying out a new line from MAC makeup called "Barbie" :)
I really like this one, think it will not score better than 6.2 as I guess it´s an easy target for the DNMC voting crowd, as far as I am concerned it fit´s the challenge perfectly but I can understand voters who won´t agree with me with this particular shot.
Lighting is 4 lights and a silver reflector, one big softbox from the front, two honeycombs from behind and one to light up the backround, the reflector was held by her pointed upwards, you can see it reflected in her eyes (actually my silhouette as well).
Post processing was kindof a lot, spent about 90 minutes processing it wich is a lot more than I usually spend on DPC challenge entries. First raw conversion, then dyed the backround pink and while the bubblegum was blue, it was too transparent and soft blue so I punched up the color there as well. I know the pink dying of the backround bleeds over on her hair and shoulders, I didn´t intend to do it that way at first but I accidentally dyed some of her hair and I thought it looked cool, like the backlight had a pink color filter on it so I decided to keep it that way. Went over the text with the burn tool with a high setting to darken it a bit, curves for contrast and sharpened and added frame after resizing.

"Go Larus, its your birthday, not really, but your rockin!!!" Well done, really like the difference in color and the creativity of your shot. LOVE that you got Korn in there, a personal favorite. Great lighting and well done GQ. Congrats on the Ribb.
I love this because it's very creative and colorful. Nobody else thought of this, so it's a nice original idea. The color is vibrant and the eyes are sharp. The whole thing really pulls you in. And theres no way I'd be able to think of so many different brands and companies to write down. Congratulations.
You took a difficult topic and made it your own - literally. Very well done. I love that I can almost see your smile through the bubble-gum (assuming this is you - if not, kudos for convincing someone else to let you draw all over them).
Clever idea, but just a tad over done, re the overkill with all those words on her face and neck. Maybe some of the brand names or music band names, of the "pop" era, would have been better.....
