I agree. This should have scored much higher, it's a beautiful image and veryr well executed. I can only assume people marked it down because they couldn't see a connection to childhood.
Very nice picture ... I do not want to say it's not related, or it does not fit the challenge ... every childhood can be depicted. It's not 'obvious' to me but anyway the picture is great. 8. Lionel
Someplace you weren't allowed to go as a child? This is a truely beautiful photo. I love the reflections of the green (grass?) and the blue sky in the door. angle is great and lighting is good. You did a wonderful job of getting the left side of the door parallel with the left of the frame. great job and good luck in the challenge.
Hmmmm - I wonder what's behind this very much-locked shed door? I wonder if I can pick the lock? Unusual reflective color makes this a very interesting picture.
The lighting and compositional aspects of this shot are great and it has a foreboding atmosphere. It creates a great sense of evoked childlike curiosity – what's locked in the shed? Is it a dead body? Or could it be a fierce rat? Superb idea – if I'm on the ball of course – and well executed. (10)
I can understand how SOME moinority of people would recognise this as part of a traumatic childhood, but as a photograph it does NOT tell that story in any way. Therefore, I cannot see how this meets the challenge. 1 Jak
i luv this pic - the color is beautiful and the hieght of the shot is perfect - low enough to make you think and realize it's a child's height but not overstated to blow you away with "you're a kid stupid" what a thoughtful pic! 9
This is a fantastic shot, but I had a hard time relating it to the challenge... I'm assuming that either it refers to a childhood locked in a shed, or a child's curiousity as to what is in the shed... Great image none the less...
This is a very nice photo. I love the way the green and blue reflections play off the black paint. I'm glad this didn't go black and white, even though it probably looks good that way too :) Kids are fascinated with things and places that they don't have access to. This is an excellent representation of that as well... I wonder if you took any closeup photos of that old lock? That lock carries quite a bit of intrigue for me on its own... great shot = 9 - jmsetzler
Wow now that is a really neat picture. The colors of the reflection look really intense and the darkness on the rightside of the shed gives the picture a scary feeling but balances with the green. Good job. 9.
this is so cool. the reflections in the door are just awesome. the challenge connection seems a bit weak, but hey, i like the shot a lot. (revised 8/29. kept coming back to this one, my favorite this week. raising score to 10) (10) ~mcmurma
I'm not altogether sure how this relates to childhood? Was this shed used for playing or was it used to lock up the kids when they behaved badly? I don't know and it doesn't really matter all that much to me. It's a good image. The composition is all right; colors are beautiful. Prelim: 7 Journey Final score: 8 Journey
Were you peeking into my childhood? Definitely had some grand times in the forbidden shed and in the pear tree right above it where we ate unripe pears until sick to our stomachs and were inevitably found out by our body's betrayal of our secret rendezvous. Funny how parents seem to know everything.
I LOVE the reflection of the grass and sky on the door. The texture on the door adds interest. I only wish the focus on the lock was less soft. There's a tutorial on unsharpen mask that I learned a lot from that might help in this case, unless the softness was intentional. 8 for now, will review again. just-married
Mmm..looks like dad hid his dangerous stuff behind this door right ? Nice sharp picture, like the reflection on the door! Makes me curious what is behind that, well-locked, door. So it's an intriguing picture.
Great shot! Iike the colors, both the black (dark green?) of the door itself, and the lighter colors reflected it in. I love cracked paint and the feeling of "old," emphasized by the old-fashioned padlock.
It's a good photograph but I don't know what it has to do with childhood... maybe someone has spent a lot of time playing in the shed????? :) I guess i can see it, certainly NOT a depressing photo (the light and color wouldn't mean he was LOCKED in it). So i'll give the originality as 7 and technical as 8, rounded up to an 8 points.
