Because I hate to see low scores on my photos without knowing WHY they voted that way, I offer these comments to explain why I scored this photo low.
I see what you were going for here, and the blur was therefore necessary, but personally for me, this photo would have had to be dynamite in order for the blur to be overloookable as a photographic tool. This was a risky photo to enter, as you might be aware, and I like that people are willing to take risks. But the riskiness alone is not what is of value to me, and so I can't give a better score just for that. It is original, I'll give you that.
The challenge is over, but I had this idea for an adjustment, inspired by thinking about your photo. Perhaps it is worth something if you still want to explore the possibilities of this photo. There's a photo in this challenge that is of a slide, with the shape of an eye surrounding the slide. It made me think that children with new glasses often see the frames of their glasses until they adjust to the new frames/prescription (or at least I did). Perhaps if you had the frames of the glasses just visible slightly (as though we're looking through them) and the portion within the frames in focus and that above, below, and to the sides, fuzzy. That might still relay your meaning without an overly blurry photo. 2, just-married
Given this is a door to an opthalmologist's office I have to wonder if the camera shake was intentional. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this. Good kids'eye view.
I can appreciate the blurriness of this photo for the purpose. LOL. Going to the eye doctor. However, I am not sure what the little squiggly things are. Kind of looks like toothpaste. The angle is great for "through a childs eyes" and the focus is great for this photo. (doesn't usually work, but it does in this case) great shot of childhood. good luck in the challenge.
Was this shot through glass? Just wondering what those white squiggly things are. Good focus, for your context in this challenge. Nice perspective too - from a child's view.
Interesting shot :) I think the motion blur here adds a nice sense of 'fear' and 'chaos' to the trip to the doctor's office... good work :) - jmsetzler
From one myopic to another - LOL! Do like this within the context of this challenge, but not sure I'd really pick it out as an attractive photo in a free study selection. 5, Kavey
Cute idea ... blurry "before" picture of the ophthalmologist. A child would certainly see it from the low angle, too. I do want a bit more color -- something else to capture the eye (no pun intended).
Very creative idea -- hope people don't beat you up too bad because of the blur/focus. Excellent work and will initially vote you high and take another look later in the week. Ok....reviewing all of my voting for the week and I still like your photo very much. I guess I can relate as I was almost blind until I got my glasses around the age of 11! One of my favorites for the week -- 10. LanSnake
What my eye sees above all are those white squiggly things and I have no idea what they are or what they are meant to convey. I like the low angle of this image to transport the viewer into the world of thesmall child. Also suppose the image is so blurred to convey the feelings of confusion and anxiety of the child going to the doctor. Yet, the blurriness is overdone for my taste. Prelim: 6 Journey
