Shot in a very poor regional community in Leyte called Paglaum. The children were magnets to my camera and I had so many great images but settled on this as a favourite.
I was there with two other pastors inspiring the local community leaders...well, attempting to. We left a real positive impact on their otherwise poor and hopeless lives.
Most of these kids won't get an education, and we were here to see if we could start another school like our one in Kenya.
EDIT: Basic stuff, like grayscale, duotone, USM, levels, curves and a few b and w adjustments in PS CS3 Beta.
PREDICTION: It will either do well or bomb...derrr. I hope for a 6.2-6.4.

Enzo!!! This is AWESOME! What a beautiful capture of the delight of childhood. It is especially touching knowing they live in such economically challenged conditions.
Congratulations on beating your prediction, and a top 20 placing!
i thought this was going to be a top 10!! I was one of your 8's ~I think it's a great shot & hammers home the irony of poverty & yet how children can still be children, despite the odds against them. Great shot!! I wonder if they learn in the processing of begging how "cute" can get them some extra coins?
Right then, joke's on me as I now have to plough through 564 images and bump them all (yes, all of them) up. There'll be a third run through for fine tuning. It's day two now and I'm running late, sorry.
