Experimenting with cheap Gloodlights from hardware stores can create astoundingly good pictures. Get the light to the side & soften it by shooting through some sort of difuser.

I like this a lot. Some different choices of background colors might have made a big difference, though. Something that contrasts more with the model's hair and skin. You also might try framing her offset to the right on the rule-of-thirds line, say. Nice expression and nice pose.
