 An emotionally difficult photograph for me to take in that it shows the surgical damage done to my wife during a series of increasingly serious gynaecological operations, which started - and ended - many years ago. I have been continually amazed at her courage throughout all of this and she inspires me to this day.

Not sure that this photo is "obvious" enough to get peoples attention but it shows the path of the gynae scars, produced after four major operations, moving towards the "belly button" and beyond. The carnelian pyramid represents several alternative therapies, although in this case it is meant to represent crystal healing using the chakras. The chakra here is the sacral plexus (navel) chakra that typically represents the reproductive system as well as the spleen and bladder. Orange is the sacral plexus colour and carnelian is one of several crystals associated with healing for the chakra.

The title for the photograph was suggested by my wife. She has had many other problems to deal with but she has always been attuned to the so-called alternative therapies, which have often provided a better holistic solution than Western-style medicine for her.

Sorry to see this was DQ'd but so glad you entered. I know that scars can bring people so much upset and can be quite ugly but there is something so strong about a person who can show those scars and keep smiling...I love the idea here and hope that your wife continues in good health.

Wow, I like this photo. I'm assuming that the operations having ended means she is okay? I've always admired people with the strength to share with the world a picture of themselves with scars. It always speaks to me of a beauty that surpasses and transcends anything that could be scarred.

a little oversharpened... but then again you probably wanted to give the pyramid a glow around the edges (?)

I know scars are not nice but the lighting here is not helping either. A low key image would've had a different appeal.
