Greetings from the CC, here is my input, if it helps great if not feel free to disregard... Your subject choice and message are both very powerful IMO, the age of your subject is poignant, the choice of b & w is very good, adding to the seriousness of the subject matter. Even your choices regarding background wall (refering to graffiti/ads, the position of subject at bottom of stairs looking up into light is very good.
My biggest objections would be I think that you could of cropped slightly more off the right, removing the (other wall?) from the top corner of shot. And while I like the brightness at top of stairs wishing there was slightly less 'brightness', it seems to draw my a little too much, taking away from the subject a little. I would like to be forced to consider the subject a little more and her 'choice' (perhaps this is not your intention).
Overall a very well done shot.
Keep up the good work

does the unlit cigarette mean she right now is choosing which death she will take? this is the kind of photo people tear out of magazines and tape to their walls....and a great decision on using black and white....
This is a nice style of shot for this challenge. I was thinking about soemthign like this but wasn't able to pul it off. It sort of looks like one of thsoe high school hallway posters. Good stuff.
Wow; I'm not sure this gets across the title message. There can't be a cigarette in the shot for that title. A better title would be "a second amendment right" or "my cold dead fingers" or "Daddy taught me how to shoot" or "bowling for columbine" or "guns don't kill people" anyway- I like the gender ambiguity of the shot, and the stairs leading up. sorry about the criticism- but this was a tough challenge.
amazing. no doubt my favorite shot in this challenge. there is tension in your shot that no other pictures in this challenge have, which adds a ton to the emotional response that propaganda trys to invoke.
Can't really rate this one on techincal aspect, as I don't believe that's what you were going for. Your overall presentation and composition is good. The fact that the person is looking up the stairs adds to the pensive mood. I'm not sure I agree with your subject matter, but as far as story telling goes, you've done well. 8 -danny
Without the title I wouldn't have really understood the message, though most propaganda images have supporting text, so I'm not saying that as a criticism. I like the composition, the close crop on the model works well. I also like the way she's looking up a stairway of light - is that meant to represent the tunnel of light people are meant to see on death?
this image relies entirely on the title for its connection to the challenge, there are many many other stories it could be telling, the light is interesting and the detail of the figure very good
Sensational photo. Great, and hard hitting, message. Lighting is supberb, model's pose is perfect. Be very surprised if this doesn't get a ribbon. Great stuff!
wow... this photo REALLY hit me... GREAT propaganda! Very Very well done... it gives a message.. it shows tension and indecision... wonderful! I even like the blowout of up the stairs almost as a come into the light kind of thing. Very well composed, and very powerful. Solid 10... good luck!
I think you should have placed more emphasize on the cigarette and the gun (maybe a close up?). For now it is really more like a picture than real propaganda.
egad... you know what? there is a man in cambodia who attributes his long life of 110+ years to smoking.. so there.. Ech.. this is a little over the top for me. I like the photo otherwise though.. interesting ( i don't know if you planned this ) that she's looking up the stairs into light.. kinda the life-after death thing going what with the christian's heaven etc.. you can smoke and still go to heaven, i believe.. but suicide is unforgiveable, correct? Don't listen to me, i'm atheist.
Good message and composition. I assume you planned the overexposure there, and I think that works too. I wanted to do an antismoking one myself, but didn't want to contribute and buy any cigarettes.
