I love nature and making photos! Ice (,, Ice, ice, baby!'') with this song in mind I was thinking to...what to add for this competition. I've started to read about ice crystals but the equipment was...wow... to expensive for me. So I decided to try out what I can count: a Canon Powershot G5 camera, a microscope, some slides, water, huge amount of optimism but…no ice !!In Hamburg it is not to warm but also not too cold for snowing! I asked for some help (,,I need some ice!!!'')Finally, a good colleague (Dorit) suggested me to use some dry ice (CO2 under pressure) in order to have a,, portable freezer''( dry ice + polystyrene box) with me and near the microscope. So I've started to be the ,,Crystal making guy''(some drops randomized or uniform distributed on a clean slide an faster placed on the ,,freezer'’). Each slice I've took it out with a clip (not to touch accidentally the dry ice or to melt the fragile crystals) and placed under the microscope. With a map of ,, ice crystal family'' near , I've started to search for a proper crystal. I've seen many of them and I was so happy...but just for a short time....In a few seconds everything has disappeared...After a few hours of working really hard I've got some beautiful shots. In CS2 I have inverted the photo and then made small adjustments of brightness and contrast, resize and upload. |
