Very tricky not being able to enhance this one to get a better effect but I like the rules just the same. I changed to grayscale and resized.
Since this is only my second photo ever posted I wasn't too sure how picky the site is on swaying from the challenge details. I realized that I did not include a tree per se. I did however contact the site, told them what I wanted to post and they said it was OK. I hope everyone who votes agrees.

Nice attempt here and i like the way you have interpreted the challenge. I only wish the focus was a bot sharper on the first one and maybe it wud have looked better in color
I like this a lot. Would be nicer if framed a little lower to get the full shadow and to crop out a bit of the background at top. But only you know what you had to work with. Good work.
