I hope that international viewers recognise a GATSO for what it is! I guess I'm also hoping that people hate them as much I do :). The deliberate strange perspective and skewed horizon along with the selective desaturation is trying to conjure up the sense of an alternate reality where speed cameras are actually a good idea...
Doing the selective desat in basic editing was a pain, lots of hue/saturation and levels layers to nail it down to just the camera itself. Finally, resize, sharpen and save for web.
Fully expecting this to bomb but I like to enter every week :).

Makes sense to me! It used to be a nightmare trying to cross the road to walk the children to school when they were small as it was really dificult to judge the speed of cars - now they all stick to 30 or below, and it has made the road much safer!
As to the technical merits of the photo - I wonder if the focus might have been better on the speed camera itself? As to the tilted composition, I am unsure - I don't hate it, but nor am I conviced by it; the same with the selective desaturation - as a rule I dislike its use, but it works reasonably well here - nice touch keeping the belisha beacons yellow, too. Basically, this is a photo I am ambivalent about - nothing about it makes me want to view it again. sorry......
