I took this photo at the Amtrak train station in Spokane, Washington just before getting on to go to Seattle. The three girls on the right are my friends, and the lady on the left is a random lady. I didn't set it up, I just ran really quick ahead of my friends and the lady and had time to snape two with flash...my friends are probably laughing at me.
Anyway, after I put the shot on my screen I saw the age difference and the differences of expression.
I could NOT think of a good title for the life of me. So yes, I used "Life Changes As You Age." I was looking for something more subtle, but couldn't think of anything.
This was my friend Collen's suggestion (the girl all the way to the right)
"Age is like a train, once it hits you you're f***ed" --My friend Colleen.
That's a little too.......harsh?

Wow- this was you! I wavered between a 6 aqnd 7 and went with 7 ...
I was going to leave a comment during but it was late. I love how the faces are clear and the shadows are dark yet the scene has a great deal of life and emotion.
You can see a young girl in the foireground woman IMO ... she seems to be shy and hiding something or trying to avoid the camera by looking away ;]
I think this is my favorite in the challenge, which is really saying something. As your title suggests, these people all seem like ghosts of each other, but the lady in the foreground has such a commanding presence and an unforgettable expression. 10
Awesome. And in my case, really, really hits home. Back to add a few words. What makes this work, other than the really good choice of subject matter, is the way the younger women almost seem to be aparitions - ghosts of a faded past or perhaps spirits of the future. They're happy, smiling, have a spring in their step. They contrast the older woman's stoic glare, her somewhat bent posture, her reluctant acceptance of life's conditions. Great catch.
Im not sure what is happening to the ladies faces but it isn’t good. also the perspective on the lady on the right is perhaps making her appear larger than she is. was the older lady on the right necessary to the shot?
The expression on the older woman is priceless. The glare/blurry effect on the three younger ladies works well, both to bring together the similarity of their expressions and to set it off from the other woman.
wow, what a difference of life as you age!!!! it just strong!!!both the girls and the woman are concious of camera, and it makes even stronger reaction.
woman convincing herself she is not in a pic, but trying enyway to escape, but she cannot make it because a lot of bags, exectly like in real life.
girls are greate contrast and background for her.ay-ay-ay, it's just greate piece
I like the contrast between the three young girls and the older woman. I'm not fond of the title, though - it makes something poignant seem too obvious. In other words, I think this photo is strong enough to stand on its own without a title instructing the viewer what to see. Great capture.
I'm not sure if this blur was intentional or not but if it was i actually would have loved to have seen this with an even slower shutter, I this the lady on the left would have come out looking awesome. either way i like it.
