As a music teacher I just couldn't let this opportunity pass. I'm just sure this is how many music teachers are perceived by their students (no fault of the students). I've heard plenty of horror stories to that end. I work hard every day to ensure that I never stoop to this level.
My wonderful wife modeled the student for me. We shot this in her classroom with four 75w lamps and the overhead flourescents (it couldn't be avoided, not enough light without).

just checking out your work roger and saw the number of views this one had had before seeing the actual image ...
talk about an excellent photograph .. i reckon this could have got on the first page if it hadnt dq'd .. that's such a shame .. my condolences ... i would've been very upset if that had happened to me on such an great entry ..
LOL!! This is priceless! I didn't get a chance to vote in this challenge so I missed this. So sorry about the DQ but in the end you still have this delightful photograph!
Oh, well about the DQ. Now you know. But this is a great, funny shot. My daughter (featured in my Music entry) is learning to play the clarinet, and 3 Blind Mice and Hot Cross buns figure prominently in her repertoire!
Sorry about the DQ - had this still been in the challenge when I voted, I would have give it an 8. The idea and composition is superb. The only thing that lets it down (and only a little) for me is the slightly soft focus and perhaps the lighting. Would be interested to see a re processed version with some burning etc.
Well done, imo, this is one of the best shots here, very expressive, nicely exposed, and sharp, great composition.
only thing is the frame, imo, the better the shot, the less need for a frame, frames can enhance a lesser quality shot, yet somehow be distracting in a really good one, may be better without the white line, this is only my opinion, and I won’t give a lower vote for it.
Excellent work. 10
Funny image. The is some strange lighting effects going on in the background - likely due to reflections from the instruments, but it has a lot going for it - back for a bump to 7
