Biology…I was hardly waiting for this theme! This is a picture of a 50 μm mouse brain section (using the freezing microtome) and stained with cresyl violet (which is coloring in red the Nissl fibers).It is a very delicate and time consuming technique(more than a week for a full process). I have used a Canon PowerShot G5 connected to the microscope (using the objective 5x).For the competition the picture was basic processed in CS2:adjust:level,contrast,brightness, crop and than resized. Hope you’ll appreciate it!

Talk about macro shots! Sorry you got punished for taking a picture of real science. Lovely staining. Is it hippocampus? Were you looking at developmental changes or gross morphology or ??
I remember something incredibly like this from a class a while ago; I don't ever remember doing mouse brains but I guess I did. Anyway, very VERY awesome photo and just perfect for this challenge!
