A plastic apple on the armrest of my sofa. Lighting is a living room lamp and possibly the TV. Used a Olympus 18mm f/3.5 Zuiko lens for the shot on my 5D. Bumped ISO to 1600 because I couldn't get my tripos to be directly above the apple and had to hand hold the camera.
I did convert to black and white in RawShooter and the rest is various amounts of curves and USM.
Have no idea what to expect but I do at least like it. :)

I like this. It's a really cool study on light and texture. I like the kind of surreal feel it has to by the placement... almost as if it's floating or about to roll down the page.
I wonder how this more artistic approach is working out? :/ Not too DPC friendly I'd wager but it's great!
I'd probably like to see a bit more sharpness and a smaller border.
A very different approach. I toyed with doing B&W myself, but wasn't convinced it comes off. To be honest I'm still not sure - but it gets a vote from me for taking a different approach :-)
I've noticed I have a predisposition to score B&W shots higher than color ones in many cases. This is no exception, particularly because I think the B&W really works well to showcase the range of texture and tones here. Very pleasing result.
A lovely study...I enjoy the light and placement of the fruit within the frame. The background texture is intriguing and definitely add interest, texture, and dimension...very nice.
