I went to the open market today. The merchants were kind of suspicious when I photographed their vegetables, they thought I was a journalist making a research on the prices!
Generally they had no problem letting me take pictures, except for this guy who had a bench full of green peppers and only one red among them. When I asked him if I could photograph them we said no. I guess the strategy 'Shot first ask question later" saved me on this one.
Anyway, I had only this shot, I wish the bottom left peppers were in focus and not so "aligned"...
pp: color adjustments in raw, converted to jpeg, cloned out a few tiny black spots and a couple of thin threads on the peppers and peppers' stalks, usm, crop, resize, saved for web

Incredible color in this one! The lighting has an enveloping feel like it was shot in studio. The natural/ambient light must have been great. I agree about the bottom left peppers, but I don't think it detracts as much as you seem to feel.
Simple, efective, sharp, great colour, good composition. Just a littled cliched in subject matter, but I like it. One of my top 4 picks in this challenge.
