I didn't realize how tricky a water splash on top of a beer bottle would be. First, I used epoxy to paint the smiley face on 6 bottles to look like the water droplets I'd add later, then choose this bottle. I carefully indented the cap down into the bottle a little to hold a little water for the drop to hit and help with the splash.
Set up an umbrella/580ex to my left, a silver reflector on the right, and the background. Put the bottle in a dish tub and tilted the camera on a tripod so the bottle didn't look so straight up and down. I used a reflector holder extended out to hold a syringe with a small tube to drop the water from about 3 feet above the bottle (the same one I used for my "Pepto Splash" entry). The cap was a really small target, and the reflector holder moved a little so it was hard to get the water right in the middle of the cap and get the crown splashes I wanted.
PP was convert from raw to 16 bit tiff, make selections and adjusted levels, dodge and burn on the water droplets on bottle, cloned out a small reflection of the umbrella in the lower left of bottle, used a little Neatimage on background, added vignette, crop, resize, usm, border, save for web.
