An outtake from the DOFIII challenge ... I kept going back and forth whether to enter THIS one or the one I entered, and ended up putting this one here and the other in DOF III.
Based on how that one's doing after day 1, I'm wishing I would have entered this one ... which I think would probably have done better there than it will in the Free Study challenge.
Handheld with my 100mm macro f/4, wide open. Levels, saturation, brightness and contrast in GIMP

Post-challenge: Thanks for all the positive comments! Yes, the sensor dust is a problem. I would have cloned it out ... but I don't know how to do that yet! I have, however, cleaned my sensor for the first time since this shot was taken!

Cool pattern and colors! Great example of shallow dof. In advanced challenges, don't be afraid to clone out sensor dust at top or lighten/desaturate/blur parts that detract from the pattern, like that row behind the focussed leaves. Anyway, this is a lovely abstract. Good job!
What a pretty photograph with a fantastic use of shallow depth of field. I really love htis -- buttttt -- I wonder in advanced editing why the sensor spots were left in ???? But that's okay, I still love it :)
