Photographer’s Notes I have recently moved to Florence, Italy to teach a couple of classes at a US University’s study-abroad program. I lived here in Florence for most of a year more than 35 years ago and this is a wonderful opportunity to get reacquainted with this wonderful city. In the photo, you can see the Ponte Vechio (Old Bridge) which is one of Florence’s tourist landmarks.
I never tire of photographing the bridge. With different light, different sunlight angles, different weather, and different points of view … every photo is different. This was shot from the Piazzale Michelangelo on a dark, cloudy, misty day. The sun has just broken through and lit up the bridge and its section of the river. I wanted to capture the bridge isolated from the background by the sunlight. And I wanted to catch the reflections in the water.
Surprisingly, very little post processing was required. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I.
