This image just didn't work for me; if the eye is the portal, I didn't see enough of the eye itself, though the selective desaturation is interesting, the image has too much under the eye and of the nose to really work for me, and the brightness under the eye was distracting for me.
The texture of the skin is great below and just above the eye, but there is too much out of focus. It would have been nice to have seen a little more of the eye too. There is not enough 'hole' to merit the title.
