I love Cardinals! This is a great catch having 2 together. If you have a 3rd image it would make a great Triptych. That what you could crop it so they are "postioned" better since, like you said, nature doesn't always cooperate with the pose you'd like to have!
I like how the desat has kept some red in the branches. The balance of the two birds is good however I think the image would be stronger if the lower bird were in the lower left corner.
Thanks for the comment, I wish I had the luxury of positioning the birds, but nature doesnt always give you what you want.
